In flour milling operations, moisture loss is the only acceptable process loss. Under optimum operating conditions, the moisture loss between the B1 passage and the final products should correspond to the loss value indicated by the extraction system.
First, we perform a moisture analysis. We compare the moisture content of the B1 passage after completion of the effective conditioning period with the extraction-weighted average moisture content of the final products.
We then verify the loss value indicated on the ALAPALA Extraction System, specifically the Extraction screen. Consistency between these two values is an important control criterion.
What is your approach if these two values do not correspond?
If there is a discrepancy between the two values, we systematically investigate the potential source of the loss. Our assessment focuses primarily on four areas.
First, we inspect the sieve bags and their connections. Any leaking, worn, damaged, or displaced connections are identified and rectified.
Second, we check the filtration and aspiration systems. Inefficient or clogged aspiration systems and jet filters can contribute to product losses, so the necessary inspections and maintenance are carried out.
Third, we verify the accuracy and calibration of the measurement systems. Any measurement equipment showing inaccurate or abnormal readings is identified and properly calibrated.
Finally, we investigate potential process leakage. In particular, elevators, screw conveyors, and conveying pipelines are inspected for any leakage of raw materials or intermediate products, and any identified leakage is eliminated.
